Medical Director Psychiatrist Opportunity A respected behavioral health organization is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to provide both direct patient care and medical leadership oversight for its behavioral health services. This role combines clinical psychiatry with administrative leadership responsibilities, including guiding medical services, supporting clinical teams, developing policies, improving care delivery systems, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in community mental health, psychiatric leadership, medication management, and multidisciplinary clinical collaboration. Job Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment planning Manage psychiatric medications and provide safe prescribing practices Conduct mental status examinations and risk assessments Provide crisis intervention and support for complex behavioral health cases Collaborate with therapists, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals Provide clinical leadership and guidance to medical staff Support development and improvement of medical policies and procedures Assist with quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance Support electronic medical records and clinical documentation standards Participate in staff training, mentoring, and professional development Provide clinical consultation regarding psychiatric care delivery Qualifications: Required Qualifications: MD or DO degree Completion of Psychiatry Residency Active Virginia Medical License Board Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) Strong background in psychiatric diagnosis, treatment, and medication management Experience providing psychiatric care in behavioral health settings Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications: Previous Medical Director or psychiatric leadership experience Community mental health experience Experience with CARF accreditation standards Experience supervising psychiatric providers or clinical teams Familiarity with EHR and electronic prescribing systems Working Hours: ✅ Full-Time ✅ Direct Hire Skills: Psychiatry Medical Director Behavioral Health Community Mental Health Psychiatric Evaluation Medication Management Psychopharmacology Crisis Intervention Mental Health Leadership Clinical Supervision Psychiatric Diagnosis Patient Care Quality Improvement Regulatory Compliance EHR Telepsychiatry Substance Use Treatment MAT/OBOT
