About this job

A community behavioral health clinic in Connecticut needs an adult outpatient psychiatrist to start as soon as possible. $225 an hour for a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, 8 to 4:30, with no call, plus a lodging stipend of up to $750 a week if you are traveling in. The assignment is at least 6 weeks, and the client expects extensions until it hires a permanent psychiatrist. Job Responsibilities: You will see 6 to 7 adult patients a day in a community mental health program for more than 300 active clients. New evaluations are scheduled for about 60 minutes and follow-ups for about 30, and the clinic keeps volume low on purpose so providers do not burn out. Your patients have serious mental illness and often co-occurring substance use disorders, and about 5 percent are forensic or court-ordered. Several APRNs and other psychiatrists work across the programs, and one psychiatrist already covers part of the week. Documentation is in the state's WITS system alongside paper charts. Qualifications: An active Connecticut medical license in hand, with no license-pending candidates. Experience in community mental health, public behavioral health, serious mental illness, or co-occurring disorders is a strong fit, and forensic exposure is a plus. You cannot currently be a State of Connecticut employee (full-time or per diem) or a contractor at a Connecticut state facility or Connecticut Corrections. Local candidates are strongly preferred. Credentialing takes about 2 to 3 weeks, followed by an interview with the Medical Director. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, 40 hours a week, no call. Start as soon as possible. Flights and rental cars are not anticipated, the lodging stipend is up to $750 a week, and mileage may be reimbursed for providers within driving distance. Skills: Adult psychiatry, serious mental illness, community mental health, co-occurring disorders, medication management, forensic exposure, WITS.
