- Perform work under the direction of the medical director, reviewed through consultations with collaborative physician or medical director - Perform independent advanced practice nursing in primary health care including eliciting patient health histories, physical examinations, establishing diagnoses for short-term common acute or chronic conditions - Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies such as X-Rays, EKGs, EEGs, blood chemistries - Perform invasive procedures including stool cultures, throat cultures, vaginal/cervical cultures, pap smears, rectal exams - Perform minor therapeutic/corrective measures including suture placement and removal, dressing changes - Prescribe therapies, wellness activities and refer patients to appropriate health care providers - Prescribe medication and treatment within practice guidelines with necessary DEA and Controlled Substance Registration for Indiana - Provide initial emergency care such as CPR and alert emergency providers - Provide consultation through collaboration with health care professionals and interdisciplinary team members - Lead and direct nursing staff in research design, coordination and evaluation to improve clinical practice and patient care delivery - Develop educational programs for individual patients and groups - Organize and coordinate specialty clinics with medical staff - Provide clinical direction to nursing and direct care staff as a Physician would - Maintain accurate records reflecting clinical decisions and actions
