Location: Waelder, Texas Employment Type: Part Time Specialty: Psychiatry Compensation: $5,000 per month / $60,000 annually Description Banyan Treatment Center Waelder is seeking a Texas-licensed psychiatrist for a highly flexible, part-time physician oversight position. The role requires only eight onsite hours per month, completed as two four-hour site visits scheduled Monday through Friday. The psychiatrist will supervise two advanced practice providers and provide administrative and clinical oversight without maintaining a patient caseload. There are no direct patient-facing responsibilities. Banyan’s Waelder facility provides medically monitored detoxification and residential addiction treatment for individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The campus is part of Banyan Treatment Centers’ established national behavioral healthcare network. Job Responsibilities: Supervise two nurse practitioners or other advanced practice providers Complete two four-hour onsite visits each month Provide administrative and clinical oversight Review documentation, treatment practices, and charts as required Support quality assurance and regulatory compliance Offer physician guidance regarding complex clinical questions Remain available to answer occasional calls from the NPs Complete required supervisory documentation and attestations Collaborate with facility leadership regarding clinical or administrative matters Qualifications: MD or DO degree Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry Active and unrestricted Texas medical license Active DEA registration Eligible to supervise advanced practice providers in Texas Previous NP or PA supervision experience preferred Addiction treatment, detox, residential, or behavioral health experience preferred Dependable and available for two monthly onsite visits Working Hours: Approximately eight onsite hours per month Two four-hour site visits each month Visits may be scheduled Monday through Friday No routine evenings or weekends No direct patient care Occasional availability by phone for NP questions Skills: Advanced practice provider supervision Psychiatric clinical oversight Behavioral health and addiction treatment knowledge Chart review and documentation compliance Quality assurance Regulatory awareness Clinical consultation Strong communication and leadership skills
