Join an inpatient behavioral health team in St Charles, MO for a locum tenens Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner assignment starting October 5, 2026. This primarily inpatient role offers a consistent weekday schedule with one rotating weekend per month and no call requirement. Job Responsibilities: Conduct psychiatric evaluations of new and established patients Round on assigned inpatient behavioral health patients Assess and monitor patients' psychiatric conditions and treatment progress Develop and update individualized treatment plans Manage and adjust psychiatric medications as clinically appropriate Document patient encounters, assessments, and treatment plans in WellSky Monitor medication response, clinical progress, and potential adverse effects Collaborate with psychiatrists, NPs, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team Participate in ongoing patient care and treatment planning Provide appropriate follow-up and clinical management for assigned patients Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation Provide weekend inpatient coverage according to the rotating schedule Qualifications: Nurse Practitioner with Psychiatry experience Board certification/eligibility: Not required Active Missouri license required BLS & CPR required Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred Telehealth experience not required Must be available for the scheduled weekday coverage and rotating weekend assignment Local candidates preferred/required for this assignment Working Hours: Assignment: October 5, 2026 – January 3, 2027 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Weekend: One rotating weekend per month Call: No call Setting: Primarily inpatient behavioral health Small outpatient department available with no set times Patient volume: Approximately 20–25 patients per day Patient population includes both new and established patients Age range potentially starts at 12, with the primary population approximately 17–68 Round on inpatient patients and document in WellSky Work alongside approximately 1.5 psychiatrists and 4 full-time NPs Approximately 6 providers may be present on typical weekdays; weekend coverage generally includes one other provider Clinical support staff available Inpatient medications administered onsite No Suboxone certification required Experience may be accepted in lieu of fellowship Skills: Strong psychiatric assessment and diagnostic skills Inpatient behavioral health experience Medication management experience Ability to manage approximately 20–25 patients per day Strong clinical documentation skills Comfortable caring for adolescent and adult psychiatric populations Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently while coordinating care with psychiatrists and other NPs Familiarity with electronic medical records; WellSky experience is beneficial
